Unable to find a SOA record for that domain
Hi,

one of my three Nameserver was offline for few days.

Since this when I start analysing my domain on http://www.zonecheck.fr I get following error message:

PHP Code:
Unable to find a SOA record for that domain

Valid CSS
Valid HTML 4.01ProfileN/A
Statistics
0 tests in 0.00 sec accross 0 nameservers
Release
ZoneCheck-3.0.5
Last generated
2014/05/13 16:19 UTC

When I enter my nameservers manually for analysing it works.
I didn't change my maradns settings. I compared it to others and they are ok.

Best Regards.

RE: Unable to find a SOA record for that domain
You shouldn’t be seeing that error message. MaraDNS always generates SOA records for zones. The only time there would not be a SOA record for a given domain is if the domain does not have its zone file.

For example, MaraDNS allows you to have a zone file like this:

In mararc:

Code:
csv2 = {}
csv2["example.com."] = "db.example.com"

In db.example.com:

Code:
example.com. 10.1.2.3
www.example.com. 10.1.2.3
example.net. 10.1.2.4
www.example.net. 10.1.2.4
example.org. 10.1.2.5
kabah.foo. 10.1.2.6

While this works, the problem is that only example.com has a SOA record in this list. For example.net, example.org, and kabah.foo [1] to have their own SOA records, they need to have their own zone files. In one’s mararc:

Code:
csv2["example.org."] = "db.example.org"
csv2["example.net."] = "db.example.net"
# and so on...

Then give each zone its own file.

[1] ICANN, in their greed, have actually made .foo a real top level domain. If it ever becomes open to registration, I should register kabah.foo and make it a redirect to http://mariajoseoficial.com/ (Since Maria Jose — who always has been my favorite member of Kabah — is the only member of that band who is still making music).
